Vagrant Bird - Dairangers

Dairangers is the 17th entry in the longrunning Super Sentai Franchise. Super Sentai is a Japanese television series that usually revolves around a team of 5 spandex clad teenagers who fight giant monsters in a giant robot. It's one of the most popular tokusatsu television shows to come out of Japan with 36 series airing for about 36 years. The 16th Super Sentai Series, Zyuranger was used for footage of the American Power Rangers. Tokusatsu in general is full of a wide variety of monsters from various myths and origins. It's hard to list the best so I will just start with ones that struck my fancy.

This is Birdcage Vagrant. 8000 years ago the Gorma tribe and the Dai tribe engaged in war. The Vagrant Bird was a bit of a drunk, so he had his golden bird claw removed. His monster design is pretty strange, as was most of the kaiju in Dairangers. It's just a Mexican Stereotype with a birdcage for a body, and an amputated leg. Naturally, the birdcage can absorb people into an alternate dimension.  His golden talon was removed, which allowed him for some kicks that would rival any Kamen Rider.

It just strikes me as hilarious because it's a mexican stereotype with a birdcage. I feel like it should be offensive, but it seems so out there that it can't be. For some reason he gave me the impression of one of the more badass monsters in the show. Especially in his human form, which for some reason can summon a ghost bus which he rides to travel and attack people. Most of the other kaiju were just cartoony monsters made from everyday objects, or somehow related to Japanese mythology and folklore which are great, but it really makes Vagrant Bird stand out by comparison. Most of the monsters don't really get human forms either.
